Electrolysis Before Care

If you have any health conditions that impact your skin, heart, blood or hair growth you should contact your doctor prior to starting electrolysis.

Hydrate

Adequate hydration improves treatment on hair and also affects the healing of skin after electrolysis.

Moisturize

Daily moisturizing is important, it helps keep the skin hydrated, allowing for smoother electrolysis appointments.

Sun

Avoid sun exposure 24 hours prior to treatment. Ensure you are using SPF while out in the sun.

Exfoliate

Exfoliate the day prior or day of your appointment. This removes debris from around the hair follicle opening.

Hair Growth

Keeping the hair being treated a good length allows your electrologist easier access to the hair follicle. If you shave between appointments, please allow 2-5 days growth. If your hair is long, please consider trimming the area prior to your appointment.

Avoid Retinoids

Do not use Retin A (Vitamin A), or topical retinoids for at least a week prior to your appointment.

Accutane should be discontinued for at least 6 months prior to starting electrolysis.

Please discuss the option of a topical anesthetic (numbing agent) with us.

Menstruating clients may find they are more sensitive during or right after their menstrual cycle, and may want to avoid making an appointment at this time.
